The Falling Artist

Iggy Kureji is an eccentric artist who owns a pet octopus named Octi. He's a character I created over a decade ago and is no longer in use. Yet, every second year I come back to him to redraw this one illustration of him falling. What started as a sketch is now a tradition and a check in to see how my art changed and how I would draw him nowadays.

He’s a silly guy in nature, a bit lost and mostly focuses on art. One could say he was the blueprint for Hidekuni, who instead ended up as one of my personas and took over the role as a mess of an artist. They share some traits, like their obsession to art, eerie nature, secrecy and laid back point of views to anything else that isn’t art.
